Buehrer Named New Leader of the Ohio Cable Telecommunications Association
Former Lawmaker & Cabinet Director to Immediately Assume Role as Executive Director

COLUMBUS, November 14, 2019 – The Ohio Cable Telecommunications Association (OCTA) today announced the selection of Steve Buehrer as its new executive director.  Buehrer will assume the role effective immediately and replaces Jonathon McGee, who left the association for a position in state government earlier this year. As executive director, Buehrer will represent Ohio’s Cable Industry before the General Assembly, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and United States Congress.

“We are very pleased to have someone with Steve’s background and experience serving as our new executive director,” said Chris Thomas, OCTA Board President.  “His legal expertise and in-depth knowledge of government at all levels ensures we have a leader in place who will immediately contribute to the quality team already working across our industry for the good of Ohio and our member companies.”

Buehrer served in the Ohio House and Ohio Senate from 1999 through January 2011 until his appointment by former Governor John R. Kasich to lead the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation as Administrator/CEO.  While serving in the legislature, Buehrer was an elected member of the House and Senate leadership teams and served as Vice Chairman of the Public Utilities Committee in both chambers.  Buehrer is currently the leader of the Ohio Public Policy practice of Carpenter, Lipps & Leland, a Columbus-based litigation firm, and he will maintain this role while also leading the OCTA.

“I am thrilled to assume this leadership role with the OCTA, and I look forward to building upon the organization’s great team and traditions already in place,” stated Buehrer.  “I have always respected this association and understand the crucial role its member companies play in connecting millions of Ohioans through significant investment and innovation across our state.”
